Open Positions

  • Backhoe Operator chevron_right
    Previous backhoe operating experience is required for this position. You will be digging in and or around multiple existing utilities, such as copper or fiber optic, power cables, gas lines or private existing utilities. You need to be comfortable with digging in congested areas and have a history of no damages to existing utilities. You will need to be able to follow hand signals from the spotter to avoid any damages to the utility that you are crossing. Some hand digging may be required to verify the location of whatever it is that you are digging around. You will be responsible for daily lubrication of all the grease fittings on the backhoe and the loader. Certain lube points may need to be greased twice daily.
  • CDL Driver chevron_right
    Experience is preferred, along with a current, valid CDL. You will be responsible for safely transporting equipment, materials, and crew members to and from job sites. You will be required to assist with loading and unloading materials and helping crew members perform daily work.
  • Directional Drill Operator chevron_right
    Experience Required, along with a Valid, Current CDL with a Tanker Endorsement. You will be responsible to haul the Directional Drill from point to point. You will need to make sure that your crew has enough mud mixing materials on hand to make it through the day without having to make a trip for more supplies. You will be responsible to look over the directional drill to check for any repairs that may be needed. Other duties will be to walk the boring path with your foreman and your Directional Drill Locator, prior to any boring activity, to verify that all existing utilities have been located. You may have to give instructions to the pot-hole team, as needed.
  • Directional Drill Locator chevron_right
    Experience is required, along with a current, Valid CDL. You will need to always clearly communicate your directions to the Directional Drill Operator, during the boring process. You will need to walk the boring path with the Directional Drill Operator and the Foreman, if necessary. You will have to give references concerning your level of experience during the interview process. You will have to make sure that all existing utilities have been potholed or located adequately for visual verification.
  • Drop Plow Operator chevron_right
    Experience preferred, but not required. A CDL is required. You will be responsible for mobilization of the drop plow, as needed. Ripley's will train qualified applicants for this position. Your main responsibility will be to place a cable or duct from a residence or business to the main cable run or right of way, per local specifications. You may need to cross existing facilities during this process. You will need to verify the locations of any existing facilities prior to any cable construction. You will be responsible to take the necessary precautions to avoid any damage to foreign facilities. You will need to effectively communicate with the property owner(s) to find out what may be in the road of the plow path. You will need to give clear instructions to those persons that will be assigned to assist you for this work.
  • Fiber Optic Cable Splicer chevron_right
    Experience in fiber optic splicing is required. You will be responsible for splicing, testing, and troubleshooting fiber optic cables in underground environments. You must be able to read fiber prints and splice diagrams and maintain accurate documentation of your work. You will also be responsible for testing fiber using appropriate equipment and ensuring all work meets industry standards.
  • Utility Locator chevron_right
    Experience locating underground utilities is required. You will be responsible for locating and marking underground utilities including electric, gas, communications, water, and sewer lines before excavation or drilling begins. You must be able to use locating equipment and clearly mark utilities according to safety standards. You will also communicate with drilling crews and foremen to ensure all utilities are properly identified.
